We have had this item and have used it almost daily for about 1 month now. We have a super large metal crate that we use occasionally in the house, for our 8 year old, 78 pound female German Shepherd, when repairmen, etc. come to call. But we wanted something lighter and easier to manage, for toting her around in when traveling, so we started searching for a soft-sided crate.

We used to let her ride on the back seat (her own seat) in our old van, and she loved looking out the windows and bounding into the front seats when we left her alone, while we ran quick errands (don’t worry, we never leave her alone more than a couple of minutes, always in the shade and never when the temp is higher than 80 degrees F, but we live in a very cold climate where it snows in May and sometimes June). We wish to keep our brand new van as clean as possible, for as long as possible (at least until it is paid for), so decided to try crating her.

We were concerned our dog would not tolerate this drastic change, but she had no problems getting accustomed to this crate. We like the large, zippered “windows” which allow her to be right near us when traveling (we have it jutted against the 2 front seats) so we can talk to her and she can feel as if she is a “part of the action.” Our dog is not a chewer (credit lots and lots of dog toys to chew on, especially when she was younger) but I am not sure how difficult it would be for her or any dog to scratch or chew her way out of this crate (or ANY soft-side crate for that matter!), if she were really determined.

The product seems well made and sturdy and was simple to set up. There is a very nice zippered storage bag included. I was surprised something so sturdy could be stored so flat. This could easily slip into the back of a storage closet, behind a sofa, etc., when not in use. The frame is tubular metal, at least 1″ in diameter (possibly heftier, I did not actually measure). I really like the built-in outside pouches for carrying things like doggy poo bags, tennis balls, bottle water, water pan, etc. This is a nicely designed product. The crate is roomy enough for her regular size bed to fit into (we bought a new one just for this purpose but will take it out when the weather warms up, and use a thin pad), she can stand up inside it, turn around easily, and stretch out comfortably while riding. We are very, very happy. I want to stress that our German Shepherd Dog is very calm and compliant (thanks, Cesar Millan!) and has made no attempts to escape. If your dog is likely to claw or chew to get out, I really can’t believe this crate could stand up to that.

The customer service from “ForYourPet” was outstanding; I LOVE getting a confirmation email (L.L. Bean, why won’t you do this?) and there were emails during and after shipping. This shipped FAST, BTW. I think I got it in about 4 days. The company guarantees the product. The price was FANTASTIC, far less than other products we looked at, that were much flimsier with fewer features! What more can you ask for?

I always hesitate somewhat when buying from Amazon when they do not fulfill the order; I have had a couple of nasty little surprises in the past. I must stress, I would not hesitate to deal with this company again. The overall experience has been outstanding, both product and service.

This crate is much sturdier and more heavy-duty than I thought it would be. The fabric is a heavy canvas, but the whole thing is light and is very easy to put up and take down. I was expecting it to be more of a flimsy, vinyl/plastic thing, but the metal frame is quite solid. Of course it’s still fabric, so if your dog is a chewer, this might not be the best crate. But I can’t imagine that any soft crate could be better. Best of all, my dog loves it. Has a very slight plastic odor. Highly recommended.

Bigger than our large wire kennel, so there is plenty of room for our large boxer. Lightweight and easy to fold and move. Very attractive design. Only draw back is mesh panels. He put scratches in those right way. Would not be good for a dog who was not calm in their kennel.
